Vertical Articulation Meeting - NCAPP Districts
We are headed to the mountains! Registration has opened for our final NCAPP gathering of the year, the 2019 NCAPP Vertical Articulation Summit. This is a new event that Superintendents requested, and we are grateful that the Blumenthal Foundation has partnered with us to make it happen – free to your district, no strings attached. Our state funding pays for this week-end retreat.
This new NCAPP event will bring together leaders from each of the NCAPP target districts. Please prioritize middle and high school principals, district curriculum leaders, Assistant Superintendents, and Superintendents. Teams should be comprised of district and school leaders and decision makers who are versed in your district's existing strategic plan. Teams will be given the time and space to focus on strategic planning to build intentional readiness pipelines of prepared students, as well as trained teachers in pre-AP and AP teaching strategies, master scheduling, and counseling. Limited programming will be offered, including an optional group hike, a craft workshop, evening storytelling and musical performances, but much of the time will be available for teams to work collaboratively to craft a district vertical articulation plan. Exemplars, planning templates, and resources from the College Board will be provided.
This 2.5 day event will take place at the Wildacres Retreat, a private conference center owned and managed by the Blumenthal Foundation. Directions to the conference center can be found at http://www.wildacres.org/about/location.html . Wildacres is a true retreat, undisturbed by traffic or noises of the city. The 1,600 acres are adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway and thousands of acres of the Pisgah National Forest. The buildings are modern yet rustic, and provide a very comfortable setting for the programs offered.
Guests stay in two lodges which have a total of 57 bedrooms. Each room has a private bathroom and accommodates two guests (double occupancy is required). Roommate requests will be honored to the best of our ability. There are no televisions or telephones in the rooms. Please note that smoking is not allowed in the rooms or in any of the buildings at Wildacres. Three family style meals are served each day in the dining room, and we will eat as a group, beginning with dinner on Friday and ending with breakfast on Sunday.
Your registration, lodging, 5 meals, and programming is paid for by the partnership. NCAPP will pay for 2 nights stay at the conference center (May 17th and 18th) and reasonable travel reimbursement for up to 6 participants from each NCAPP district. Only necessary travel expenses will be reimbursed, subject to funds availability up to the maximum allowable amount. Two-day event maximum reimbursement: $250 per person.
